Exceptional work in terms of typographic achievement and information, presenting, over its 308 pages, the collection of paintings of King Charles I of Romania. The 74 paintings reproduced using the heliogravure technique were at the Royal Palace in Bucharest, and at Peleş Castle. Two portraits are also added to these, hat of King Charles I and of Queen Elizabeth, also made using the heliogravure technique. Leo Bachelin, King Charles I's librarian, published this remarkable work, the Catalogue raisonné of the royal art collection, at the sovereign's request. The edition is particularly important, both for the valuable information it provides, and in terms of the outstanding graphic design that makes it a collector's item. The richly decorated covers are pegamoid, the flyleaf is the original and the edge is gilt.
