The elegant edition was published in Romanian and German in 1933, at the initiative of King Charles II, to mark the passage of 50 years from the inauguration of Peleș Castle. The volume opens with a beautiful heliogravure reproducing Queen Elizabeth’s portrait in a Romanian popular costume, made in 1872 by American painter George Peter Alexander Healy (1813-1894).
