The catalogue starts with antiquity, represented by the famous Dacian weapon (Sica) and a selection of important coins of the era, including pieces minted in the Greek colonies of Histria, Tomis, and Callatis, Roman imperial coins of Traian, or the spectacular gold Solidus of Valentinian I.
