Obverse: "IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P" Reverse: "SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI - VIA TRAIANA" On the obverse, the coin presents Emperor Trajan's bust, directed towards right and wearing a laurel wreath, while the reverse shows the personification of the road he had built, named Via Traiana, as an extension of the already existing road, Via Apia, connecting Beneventum to Brundisium.
