The best Croatian sacral artist Ivo Dulčić (Dubrovnik, 1916 - Zagreb, 1975) interrupts his law studies to enroll in painting at the Academy in Zagreb. However, he was expelled from this study in 1946 because he negatively commented on the socialist realist artistic ideology. He will spend his life between Dubrovnik and Zagreb. He paints lavishly, emotionally layered, densely colored pictures. In the seemingly shallow space, Dulčić placed a massive white pitcher in front of the icon of two saints of earthy tones with a dense and energetic application of paint, which creates an interesting contrast between the material and the symbolic. Dulčić's expressive brushstroke, muted tones and warm colors that give the composition dynamism and depth are recognizable.
