General Aurel Aldea (1887-1949) asserted himself as a valuable officer of the Romanian army. He participated in the second Balkan War and in the two World Wars. In 1941, he came in conflict with General Ion Antonescu, so he was marginalized and placed into reserve duty. After 23 August 1944, he was reintegrated into the army by King Michael, with whom he had a good collaboration until his 1946 arrest by the communist-controlled government. Sentenced to prison, he died in the Aiud penitentiary. The album includes a series of documents that belonged to the general, such as 11 photos, 146 visiting cards offered by various soldiers, invitations sent by the Royal House, menus and a telegram of King Michael.
