In his still lifes, the artist's goal is harmonizing the overall composition. He paints from a model and aims for the most natural articulation of the represented forms. His still lifes can be viewed as an unlimited experimental field, where the painter liberates his imagination and proposes unprecedented analogies between forms, colors, and volumes. The theme thus becomes an exercise destined to facilitate the attainment of a plastic apotheosis. Nicknamed the "painter of flowers" or "a follower of Luchian" in his time, Ghiata specialized his brush specifically in outlining tufted flowers or wildflowers, but his works dedicated to fruit bowls are also inevitable. Simplicity dominates his entire creation, so that the still lifes transposed by the artist capture, without ostentation, the folkloric-rural vein of his native lands. Clay vessels bearing the seal of traditional incrustations, vegetables, or jars of jam compose true synergies of the archaic world and modernity or the innovation of artistic means.
