Although they are assigned to Romanian craftsmen and observe the orthodox iconography, the icons spread in the Southern and Western Banat do not fit into the artistic vision and style of the glass painting from Transylvania. Another cultural field had influenced them. The Saint is heavy-laden with ornaments (embroideries and stylized flowers) on the apparel and in the background, which is a concession made to the local peasants' taste. The background illustrates the heaven and earth, the latter being suggested by wide, horizontal stripes, in alternating colours, sometimes strong, other times shaded away through gradients. The face is altogether different from the one in the icons from Transylvania: a broad nose and irises which go beyond the lower eyelid. The excessive ornamentations (points, stars, crosses, arabesques) which decorate the apparels create a strong vibration, a restless look, thus diminishing the clarity of the composition. Conservation status: It features a scratch in the upper left corner.
