tempera, iron gall ink and gold on vellum, 20 x 14.5 cm
"The Book of Hours" is a collection of liturgical texts intended for lay people, opposite of the "Breviary" which was meant for clergy. In the Slavonic-Romanian Orthodox world, the equivalent of such a work is the "Horologion". The piece represents an illuminated leaf from the incunabulum "The Book of Hours", written calligraphically on both sides on parchment, in medieval Latin with iron gall ink and Latin characters. It features decorative elements, initials made in gold, and vibrant floral-vegetal elements. The text block is 9.2 x 6.3 cm and includes 15 full-page lines.
