For lovers of Modern and Contemporary art, Artmark’s Postwar and Contemporary Auction brings a carefully curated collection of works that trace the development of Croatian and regional art from the 1950s to the present day. This is the first auction entirely dedicated to that period—a time of intense change, experimentation, and innovation that shaped the identity of our contemporary art. The auction brings together artists who marked postwar modernism and the avant-garde. From members of Exat 51, such as Ivan Picelj and Aleksandar Srnec, whose works laid the foundations of geometric abstraction and the visual culture of the 1950s, through abstract masters like Edo Murtić and Marijan Jevšovar, to innovators such as Miroslav Šutej, Ivan Friščić, Vjenceslav Richter, and Zlatko Prica. The selection offers a comprehensive overview of artistic practices up to today, also presenting new names from the current scene, whose work continues to develop the ideas of modernism in a contemporary context.
