"Mihai Viteazul" is a Romanian historical film, directed in 1971 by Sergiu Nicolaescu from a script by Titus Popovici. It was made by Studioul Cinematografic București and consists of two parts entitled Călugăreni and Unirea. The role of Mihai Viteazul is played by actor Amza Pellea. Mihai Viteazul was Romania's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1972. It ranks 3rd in the list of the most watched Romanian films of all time, according to a 2006 press release by the Romanian Union of Authors and Filmmakers. It is worth noting the presence of an entire division of enlisted soldiers to recreate the battle scenes in a realistic manner. The film consists of two parts of approximately equal length: Călugăreni and Unirea.
