Descriere

Early 1920s, Paris. Two close friends live at 12, Place Dauphine. One of them is Gheorghe Răut and he manages the Marmorosch-Blank subsidiary in the French capital. The second, Theodor Pallady, is a painter already famous in the country and in the bohemian circles of Paris. History rolls forward very fast. In 1940, Pallady goes to Bucharest to open an exhibition, but he is no longer able to the leave the country. In 1968, Răut offers the Romanian State part of his art collection consisting of European paintings, furniture and decorative art, ceramics and Oriental art. To this he added a series of paintings and the numerous drawings, watercolours and engravings that Th. Pallady had left in Răut's care in his workshop in Paris. The sale of the Ninette Schapira & Gheorghe Răut Collection brings together some of the items that Răut had kept for himself in Paris, as well as some of the collection he built after the donation.
