The artwork was part of the exhibition "The Traveler's Night", Possible Gallery, December 9, 2005 - February 6, 2006, under the name "The Girl with the Crown".

Stefan Câlția stated in an interview that "art is life", a fact which he tried to assimilate and portray in his works over time. Creator of a complex universe, Câlția portrays a fantastic world on canvas. Advancing through the fairy-tale world and attempting to decipher its metaphors, we delve into a world where fragments of our everyday reality intermingle with elements of fiction, forming the basis of a meaningful story. In Câlția's work, the diegesis of the painting manifests more through signs and symbols, facilitating the viewer's deciphering game. The character of his pictorial images and reflections stem from a knowledge of the Romanian rural space, often oscillating between the nostalgia of a bygone world and a world that belongs to changes. Thus, master Câlția, through his magisterial work, proposes an analysis of the real through the imaginary, creating a story space worthy of exploration. The current work, entitled "The Girl with the Garland", is part of a broader series of works which the artist completed in the early 2000s. Other works from this pictorial cycle include "The Girl with Blue Flowers", "The White Dress". The works in this series are characterized by the capture of a central character, who becomes the focal point of the work, often the character holding an object that has been designated to them. Taken from a fairy-tale world, Câlția's characters are ethereal, they are under the sign of fragility. Their bodies are long and elastic, and often androgynous, wearing clothes taken from the wardrobe of a fairy tale theater. His protagonists seem to float on the canvas, without touching the ground in their magical journey. Thus, in the current work, the young girl, dressed in a white dress, holds a pearl crown, which symbolizes the ephemerality of life. The girl's face is pale, with large eyes and a silent mouth, and with a red ribbon in her hair. The girl seems to be suspended in a permanent waiting. The work impresses with its chromatic palette with cool tones and undertones, only a few shades populating the work, such as white, blue, green, gray and black. All these colors induce a profound feeling of unrest, creating the predisposition for the occurrence of a disturbing event.
