The artwork probably represents the most important work of the historian Nicolae Bălcescu, posthumously published by Alexandru Odobescu in 1875. The binding is period, made of cardboard with a leather spine (damaged at the top). The copy includes several handwritten signatures and stamped ex-libris of Ion Lucian Murnu.
