The German geographer and cartographer Sebastian Münster (1488-1552), a professor at the University of Basel, is known, despite his prodigious activity, especially for his famous collection of world maps, "Cosmographia", which was printed in 24 editions, the first description of the world in the German language. This piece is part of this work, the first edition being printed in 1544.
