These pieces were struck in Great Britain, at the Royal Mint in London. The coins have the year 1922 inscribed on them and were - most likely - issued to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the coronation of Ferdinand I and Maria as king and queen, a coronation that had taken place in October 1922 in Alba Iulia.
The coins were engraved by the renowned French artist Paul Marcel Dammann (1885 - 1939).
