The Iron Guard was the official title borne between 1930 and 1935 by the Legion of the Archangel Michael (Legionary Movement), an anti-Semitic, anti-democratic, ultra-nationalist-fascist, terrorist-type organization, with a pronounced mystic-religious character. It organized assassinations against political opponents and against the Jewish community in Romania. The document contains an assurance addressed by the members of the legionary nest from the commune of Cudalbi, Covurlui county, to General Alexandru Averescu visiting the county capital in December 1933, by which they undertake to support the People's Party led by the general in the elections if they receive the approval of the leadership of the Iron Guard.
