This monumental fireplace set, consisting of a table clock and a pair of candlesticks, exemplifies the opulence and decorative exuberance characteristic of the Louis XV style, which gained prominence during the era of Napoleon III. It is crafted by the esteemed Parisian bronzier Henri Houdebine, renowned for producing high-quality gilded bronze works, this set includes a central clock, flanked by a pair of candelabras, all modeled in gilded bronze. The design of the set reflects the Rococo revival's affinity for asymmetry, whimsical ornamentation, and natural motifs, highlighting Houdebine's technical casting skill. The use of gilded bronze adds a sense of luxury and permanence. The central clock has a pediment case topped with an urn finish, with the dial adorned with vegetable details in gilded bronze and Roman numerals, where it is also signed "H. Houdebine". The mechanism needs revision.
