Miron Romanus (1828-1898) was elected Metropolitan of Transylvania in 1874, after serving as Archbishop of Arad. He came into conflict with the leaders of the national movement of Romanians in the Austro-Hungarian Empire because of his loyalist attitude towards the government in Budapest.
