At the insistence of his parents, Henri Catargi will follow Law at the Sorbonne, where, with the indulgence of teachers sympathetic to students who had been on the front, he will pass all exams in a single year. He will then attend the Julian Academy in Paris, but will not identify as well with the work pace and style, the artist being eager to learn as much as possible in as little time as possible, so he will enroll at the Ranson Academy, where he finds a professorial collective and a group of colleagues to his liking. His encounter with the Parisian environment also enabled him to visit major museums and to meet great masters, whose works he will replicate as a way of practicing his plastic aspirations. He continues to undertake diligent studies, especially through his still lifes with flowers or fruits. In the present work, we notice the basket from which the grape cluster freely emerges. In front of it, we find the legged vessel, in which several snacks are carefully arranged. Predominant are shades of orange and violet, while the brown hues embedded in the table's surface strongly contrast with the blueish white found in the background.
