The specimen is part of the "Atlas Encyclopédique: containing ancient geography, and some maps on the geography of the middle ages, modern geography, and maps related to physical geography", published in the year 1787. Rigobert Bonne (October 6, 1727 – September 2, 1794) was a French cartographer, widely considered one of the most important cartographers of the late 18th century. Although he focused largely on coastal regions, Bonne's work is highly appreciated for its detail, historical importance, and general aesthetic appeal.
