In the deep background of the icon, bordered by a wide frame painted on the edges with reddish brown, on umber (probably initially gilded) background, the Mother of God is rendered up to her waist, slightly turned to her left, with her head bent toward her left shoulder, in an attitude of deep mastered pain. She holds a kerchief to her chest with both hands. Her face, with a hardened expression, emits boundless sadness. She is draped with a rotten cherry-coloured veil, spun with a reddish brown chevron. The face and hands are executed in several shades of umber, starting from a reddish brown shade, the light accents are expressed with white, parallel highlights. The halo around the head is bounded by the umber background of the icon with a line painted with brown. The name designation inscription is kept fragmentary.
