The icon is a commemorative icon that illustrates one of the great feasts related to the life and passion of Jesus Christ, namely, "The Presentation at the Temple" or the "Greeting of the Lord". According to Erminia, the scene takes place against the background of conventional architectures, painted with green, umber and violet in the icon. In the centre of the composition one can see the altar table, painted in red. On the left side, standing, one can see the Virgin Mary draped with a red himation over the blue dress, and she has just left Baby Jesus in the arms of Saint Simion, who embraces him with great piety ("This child shall save the world"). Baby Jesus is clothed with green chiton and umber himation and the clothes of St. Simion are painted with violet umber and dark green. The Virgin Mary is accompanied by the prophetess Anna and Joachim. It is worth noting the faces of the characters that are done in miniature, with great accuracy, their model is executed with gradual transitions from a brown-red shade to the bright parts painted with umber, the light accents are done with white highlights. Around the ends one can see halos. The painting of the icon was transposed at a date that we cannot specify on another wooden support (also an old one) with the deep field and the wide embellished frame that also contains the name of the scene painted in Russian characters "Streatenie Gospodi", (Greeting of the Lord). Above the characters there is black writing, with lower case letters, depicting with Slavic characters their names.
