PROVENANCE
Until the late 1940s: Historical collection of Ervin Weiss (1884.-1966.) and Branka Weiss (1902.-1975.); 1947: The Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of Croatia declares Weiss's collection a private collection of public significance; After 1949: The collection is inventory-listed by the communist regime, followed by confiscation; 1955: It is handed over to the care of the Modern Gallery, where it is kept for the next 70 years; After 2021: The collection becomes the property of the Weiss family heirs, following nearly 30 years of legal restitution proceedings.
