Research information
The work, also called "On the fisherman's porch" is related to the order honoured by Nicolae Tonitza between 1934-1935for decorating the Royal Palace. The Tartar woman in this painting is found on one of the two pannels inside the Palace, being also the main subject of the herewith work. In the exhibition of the Group Han-Șirato-Tonitza of the Dalles Room in May, 1934, Tonitza exhibited in the 46th category the work called "Blue veranda", name which entitles us to think is is the present work. This is not only emphasized by the subject of the present painting, but also by the fact that the whole exhibition was conceived around the oriental universe in Balcic and Mangalia, all the 44 works being dedicated to it.
