Research information

The work was mentioned in the 1911 Harrogate estate sale as one of the 17 works by Vlaha Bukovac in the Fox collection. The painting "Far from Home" was mentioned under number 168. Vlaho Bukovac mentions the painting in the autobiographical book "My Life", Zagreb, 1918 in the list of works of art from the Paris period, cat. no. 21.The work is reproduced in the monograph Vera Kružić-Uchytil, "Vlaho Bukovac - Život and djelo: 1855. - 1922.", Nakladni zavod Globus, Zagreb, 2005, p. 351., cat. no. 314. The work is mentioned in the exhibition catalogue "Vlaho Bukovac 1/3 - paričko razdoblje 1877.-1893.", authors of the exhibition Petra Vugrinec and Lucija Vuković, Galerija Klovićevi dvori, Zagreb, 2018, p. 70.

PROVENANCE

Until 1911., historical collection of Samson Fox (1838 - 1903). Samson Fox rose to fame and fortune as a inventor, engineer and finally as an industrial magnate in the second part of the 19th century. Private collection, Zagreb.
