The richness of themes we discern in the work of Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna, at a time in history when travel possibilities were significantly low, is most likely due to the protagonist of this work. Whether we speak of the East, or of the banks of the Seine, Rome, Venice, Florence, San Remo, München, or Augsburg, the artist often transposed in his canvases the places he roamed. However, all above-mentioned trips - whether for study, or for exhibition purposes, were possible due to Constantin Serafim. The position he held in the passports directorate facilitated the granting of approvals for the artists who stated their wish to take part in cultural events abroad.
