The set originates from the family archive of Marshal Ion Antonescu’s cousin, Rodica Mărculescu, who was raised in his family after she became orphaned at the age of two. She had a special relation with the marshal’s wife, whom she nursed and helped after 1946. His wife, Rica, left several goods that had belonged to her and to the marshal as an inheritance. The respective goods have remained in the cousin’s family to this day. In a memoir on Ioan Petru Culianu, Șerban C. Andronescu says, with regard to these goods, that: "Philippe had been an en vogue journalist in Paris in the time of Marshal Petain, when Romania was led my Marshal Antonescu, and Artemisa was a friend of Rodica Mărculescu. Having become orphaned at the age of two, she had been raised with Ion Antonescu; she was like a true sister to him and, as Mizica used to say, he had died in her arms in the apartment from the old 246 Calea Moșilor. She had left several belongings of the Antonescu family to Mizica, Mrs. Maria Antonescu’s mink coat, the marshal’s gold watch with chain, letters, and other such items."
