The stiletto was part of the land army officers' gala uniform, during the Romanian Socialist regime (1965-1989). The sheath is decorated on both sides with the coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Romania. The links (the system for belt attachment) are complete. The 12 arm insignia (parachute troops, tanks, mountain troops, military pilots) are accompanied by an insignia of the National festival "Cântarea României." All the pieces are in a special conservation status. The entire lor was offered as a formal gift by General Ion Hortopan (1925-2000), Chief of Staff in the 1980s, to the British general Sir, Charles Richard Huxtable (1931-2018), commander of Great Britain’s land troops in the above-mentioned period.
