The first sets of Rummikub or Rummy were made by Ephraim Hertzano (Herțeanu) with his family, in his yard, in the early 1930s. Hertzano sold these sets door-to-door and in small shops. He later immigrated to Israel and large-scale manufacturing of the pieces began, quickly becoming a very popular game.
