Chopard 1000 Miglia men’s wristwatch, limited edition 151/2014, automatic mechanism, previously glazed. White dial, Arabic numerals, three registers and date between 4 and 5. Original brown leather strap and stainless steel buckle. Held annually between 1927 and 1957, this unique road race took competitors from Brescia to Rome and back. It is considered the most beautiful competition in the world. Organizing a Mille Miglia was an unusual but fascinating idea that emerged when Europe was at the forefront of an economic crisis and almost all car manufacturers withdrew from major races. In 1947, after the war, Mille Miglia reappeared in its usual form and continued until 1957, when a new accident took place near Guidizzolo, this accident put an end to the great road race. The increasingly powerful and faster cars - some of them reaching a top speed of 260 km / h - put an end to the Mille Miglia. In 1988, Chopard took over the roles of official partner and timekeeper for the famous Mille Miglia race. These now inseparable connections were born from Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's passion for classic cars. Under his stimulus, Chopard became the main sponsor of the legendary Mille Miglia and one of the first watch brands to associate its name with the automotive world. For Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, this came very naturally: “Car lovers often have a weakness for luxurious watches and vice versa. In both cases, extreme precision and sporty elegance are particularly important. ” Functions: time reserve, small-scale seconds, chronograph and tachometer. Accessory: original box.
