Constantin Bacalu graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Iasi in 1908 and continued his studies in Munich. He traveled to France and Belgium and from 1922 to 1947 he constantly exhibited at the Official Salon. He worked on landscapes and easel graphics, but also frescoes at the St. George's Church in Constanta and the Church in Scorteni (Bacau county) alongside Nicolae Tonitza.
