An intimate painter, who transcribes through lines and chromatic the whole warmth of the family space, Francisc Gall will often turn towards his own children - Marie-Lize, Jean-François and Elisabeth-Anne, or towards his wife, Eugenie, when he will start a new work. He learns and assimilates equally the language of the bodies and the one of nature (the trees, the flowers, the sky or the water) and chooses to illustrate themes such as the woman, nature or the city. Sometimes, he also adopts social origin subjects - we remind here the bread crisis in 1947, which the artist will transform into a pictorial subject that will be awarded at the Salon of French Artists. Meetings with the famous galleries: Durand-Ruel or Bernheim-Jeune (galleries where Dimitrie Berea also exhibited) will facilitate the popularization of his work among the foreign public in Europe. Sketched this time in front of the makeup table with a mirror, the protagonist of the current work allows us to penetrate into her intimate universe. With her hair tied up, pouring from under a small white hat tied with a blooming ribbon, the artist's muse invites us to discover the frame under the auspices of which she carries out her daily life. We note the preference for vivid hues, predominantly rendered in warm tones, and also Gall's floral choices which he often includes in works with characters. His young protagonists are often accompanied by the plant element which undoubtedly enhances their symbolic value.
