Iliya Petrov, presented as one of the most significant artists in the contemporary artistic life of Bulgaria, left behind a rich collection of sketches, many of which depict nudes, war scenes and animals. Also called the “master of animalism”, he ranks among the profound researchers of the animal form and primacy. What gives completeness to his sketches is precisely the spiritualization of living matter. His work builds a connection between the various representatives of the animal world – bears, birds, pets and others. (K.S.)
