In this pictorial genre, the artist will remain known due to his preference for warm and intense tones, his knack for melodic organization of the composition, and his ability to render lyrical rhythms of chromatic juxtapositions. Ciucurencu admires the flowers painted by his precursors, especially those of Luchian. He is inspired by the work of the artist, but his flowers remain anchored in a representation where the emphasis is mainly on color, while the form takes on secondary connotations. The obsession with color will never leave the artist, but he will focus his attention on achieving compositional harmony by juxtaposing light, shades, and contrasts. As a successor of post-impressionism, he gains some of the characteristics of this trend: the autonomy of color and the use of strong, vivid shades, but he is not shy to introduce black into his works. The artist's drawing skills are revealed especially in the contours through which he defines the subjects represented. Ciucurencu masters perfectly the art of matching lines and harmonizing colors. This work is, presumably, part of a larger series, in which the artist includes without fail the same tablecloth with horizontal or vertical stripes. This time, it brings together both the vase with flowers and the bowl with fruit, the clay pot, and the book, elements that already make up his specific plastic universe.
