He is not an advocate for aggressive contrasts, and instead he wagers on subtlety, chromatic harmony, dissipated light and a linear rhythm. Unlike universal Impressionists who depict their emotions, Ștefan Popescu renders silence and balance in his works, hence managing to capture the unitary relationship between shape and colour.
