The composition organisation and the technique perfection are two of Samuel Mützner's main interests. Especially as far as landscapes are concerned, the artist unfolds an impeccable technique and a bold execution of shapes. In France, he acquires the preference for plen-air, light and colour in Claude Monet's studio. After a long series of journeys abroad, starting from 1923 he develops an interest for the rural society theme. His wife, Rodica Maniu, inspires his love and passion for the countryside environment, a recurring subject in her own creation as well. The couple would paint together outdoors, in the village where Rodica Maniu inherits a small estate. That is where Mützner approaches his subjects in a naturalist manner, adopting a much lighter colour range. He paints fields, hills or work scene. He depicts his characters in national costumes, harmoniously juxtaposing them with the setting.
