With a sober and lyrical chromatic richness, Petrașcu's art reveals an intimate universe in which we regularly encounter the cityscape, a genre to which he pays particular attention from the beginning. He will travel to London, The Hague, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Brussels, Senlis, Zürich, Bern, Basel, Stockholm, Toledo, Vitré and Venice, making contact with architects full of cultural effervescence. In the country, he will make frequent trips to Viforâta, Târgoviște, Sibiu and Sighișoara, where he will be impressed by the richly coloured buildings. Around Sighișoara he will create works such as: "Hanul Covaci din Sighișoara" ("Covaci Inn in Sighișoara", "Case din Sighișoara" ("Houses in Sighișoara"), "Sighișoara", Square in Sighișoara (Markplatz) and so on. Research information

In 1921 and 1922 Gheorghe Petrașcu returns and paints an important cycle of landscapes of the old medieval Saxon fortress, on quite small formats, works that were to be exhibited in the 1923-1926 exhibitions. The artwork most likely participated in the 1923 solo exhibition at the Romanian Athenaeum, when Petrașcu exhibited for the first time the landscapes of Transylvania made in 1921-1922.
