The poster and the issue of "Cuvântul" ("The Word") newspaper in the context of the legionaries' launching of the rebellion aimed at removing General Ion Antonescu from power. The Legionary Movement and Antonescu had seized power after the abdication of King Carol II and their decisions paved the way for antisemitic legislation and the tragedy of the Holocaust in Romania.
