Dimitrie Olanescu (1849-1908) he headed as commissioner, the committee that organized Romania's participation in the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900. He was responsible for setting up both the national pavilion and the country's thematic pavilions, such as the Oil and Agriculture pavilions. In addition to numerous awards, Romania has been recognised as the world's third oil power after the Russian Empire and the United States.
