Graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Napoleon Tiron was over time a member of several artistic groups, among which we mention: "9+1", "56,5" or "ART+". He discovered his artistic vocation in childhood, when he made sketches and drawings for school. After graduation in 1970, he participated in the Măgura Camp, where he was awarded the Union of Plastic Artists' Prize. He discovers his vocation for abstraction and works predominantly small sculptural forms. The preferred material from his work will be wood, which he will fragment, combine or juxtapose according to his own artistic beliefs. He shows a special knowledge of shapes and creates his own geometry of sculptural language. The totemic character of his works is enhanced by the abstraction of forms, by well-defined lines and planes, with symbolic charge. Apparently simple, his works reveal their complexity and depth at a closer look. The sacred and the profane meet in his work, and geometric constructivism that has its origins in national tradition will, however, tend towards modernity. His artistic career will harmoniously combine with his teaching one or with that of stage designer at the theater in Galati, so that Napoleon Tiron will be concerned with the revelation of the scenography of his own creation over time.
