Research information

The artwork was part of the "Nymphs and Zombies" exhibition, Art Safari, June 30 - September 10, 2023.

From the dystopian universe of Paul Baraka, one of his demons that guided him in creating the truly terrifying scenographic ensemble appears in the palpable reality of the gallery, as part of the exhibition "Nymphs and Zombies", Artsafari 2023. The work titled "Crucifix Demon Alina" is somewhat paradoxically positioned against the paintings from the same series where the artist sanctifies all kinds of characters, as representations through which he himself becomes a kind of martyr who has fallen prey to the traps of meta-contemporary society. In this case, the artist demonizes the character by hybridizing it, and the crucifixion posture raises many questions about the relationship between victim and executioner, the character's identity becoming paradoxical.
