Includes the inscription: "In honor of the leading National Liberal Party veteran, who took part, half a century ago, in all the battles and victories that led the country to the coronation of Alba-Iulia." Mihail Pherekyde (1842-1926) was a Romanian lawyer and politician of Macedonian origin, founding member of the National Liberal Party in May 1875. In 1862, he was awarded a degree in Letters, at the Sorbonne, and in 1866 he became Doctor of Law. He was a Minister of Justice, Minister of Public Works, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Between 1901-1904, 1907-1909, 1910-1911, 1914-1916 he was president of the Deputy Assembly, and between 1922-1926 he was president of the Senate.
