Format in 4°, 64+832 pages, a leaf for the errata and a plan of Constantinople. In the title, a vignette drawn by C.A. Wagner and engraved by G.D. Henman. In the first 4 sheets is the translator's dedication letter to Maria Theresa, with an engraving by the same artists, representing the apotheosis of the Empress. This is followed by the German translator's preface, the author's preface, a comparison of the Hegira years with those of the Christian era, and a table of the value of Turkish coins compared to Saxon coins. At the beginning and end of the two parts of the book there is a vignette signed by Mart. Tyroff. There are also some beautifully engraved initials and portraits of the sultans opposite each chapter covering them. At the end lies: table of contents, a record of foreign words, an alphabetical index of subjects and the life of Dimitrie Cantemir. This edition is embellished with a portrait of Cantemir, engraved by C. Fritzch in 1745, with the following inscription: 'Demetrie Kantemir, des h. russis. Reichs und in Moldau Fürst, bey dem russ. Kaiser Peter dem Grossen des hohen Senats Mitglied und geheimer Hath." Underneath, between the words of the inscription, is the Cantemir family coat of arms.
