Dr. Nicolae Paulescu (1869-1931), a professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest and discoverer of insulin, was at the same time one of the radicals of the anti-Semitic movement in Romania, a leading supporter of the Legionary Movement about which he wrote numerous praising texts. Inspired by Nazi ideology, he supported the extermination of Jews on ethnic and religious grounds in an exceptionally harsh manner. In 1922 and 1923, along with another radical disciple of anti-Semitism in Romania, Professor A.C. Cuza, Paulescu founded the "Christian National Union" and the "Christian National Defense League", precursors of the Legionary Movement. His texts have made a major contribution to the shaping of what was the Holocaust in Romania. The present copy is part of the anti-Semitic literature published by Paulescu.
