The work was sponsored by the Greek-Catholic Bishop of Oradea-Mare Demetriu Radu (1861-1920), who presided over this bishopric between 1903 and 1920. A photogravure with the bishop's portrait opens the volume, which is illustrated with numerous vintage photographs. The first page is detached from the spine.
