The historian Alexandru D. Xenopol (1847-1920) addressed two letters, as follows:
1. A holographic letter, dated February 11, 1869, signed, sent to the engineer, mathematician, and fellow Junimea member Ioan Mire Melik (1840-1889), referring to matters related to the publication of a work and sending cordial greetings to Petru Poni. The letter is carefully drafted on a vellum paper, with black ink.
2. A short holographic letter, undated, signed, sent to an unidentified Mr. Melik. The letter is drafted with blue ink on vellum paper and keeps the original envelope postmarked Iași loco September 15, 1898.
