Elias Schwarzfeld (1855-1915) was a Romanian historian and writer of Jewish origin, one of the most important Jewish intellectuals in Romania from the second half of the 19th century. Expelled in 1885 by the liberal government led by Ion C. Brătianu as a result of his public anti-government attitude, together with other prominent Jewish intellectuals, such as Moses Gaster or Moses Schwarzfeld, he continued his activity in France where he became naturalized.
