The lawyer and conservative politician Grigore Păucescu (1842-1897) personally knew Mihai Eminescu both as a member of the Junimea Society and from his position as director of the newspaper "Timpul" for which Eminescu was an editor. Also, during a meeting of the Junimea Society hosted in Grigore Păucescu's house in Bucharest, Eminescu read for the first time "Letter III" which was then published in "Convorbiri Literare". The binding of the copy is contemporary.
