The work represents one of the first pieces published by Ion Ionescu de la Brad (1818-1891) in Iași in 1845. Shortly after returning to the country after his studies in France, he was appointed in 1842 as professor of agronomy at the Mihăileană Academy in Moldova's capital. A revolutionist, he is considered the founder of Romanian scientific agronomy. On the title page of the copy, there is an owner's bookplate from the second half of the 19th century.
